The maneki-neko, the beckoning lucky cat, has been part of Japan since the Edo period (1603–1868). Its origin is not firmly documented. One legend leads to the Gōtoku-ji temple in Tokyo, where a lord followed a poor priest's beckoning cat and so escaped a lightning strike. The cat is found in Japanese shops and restaurants, where it is meant to invite customers and good fortune. On this plate it raises its paw for your table. The pink training chopsticks make the first steps with chopsticks easy. We have put everything together and wrapped it beautifully, so you can give a present with a story.
