Classic Japanese mirror dresser (kyōdai), probably from the Edo period. Width 28cm, Height 34 cm (without mirror) or 67 cm (with mirror), depth 37 cm. The dresser was used for hairdressing and makeup. Several small drawers for utensils. Black lacquered with clear signs of wear. The drawers open and close smoothly. Bronze mirror with handle, on a removable stand on top of the dresser. Late 18th century mirror with a chrysanthemum motif on the back, designed by the mirror master Fujiwara Masashige.
