Made to Order: The Sato Sewing Atelier

Slow living does not begin with furnishing a room, but with the question of how something is made. The Sato sewing atelier is guided by a conviction that has become rare in today's consumer culture: nothing is produced in advance. Every cushion, every set of bed linen, every curtain is made only once an order has been placed. This prevents overproduction, but demands something that is becoming increasingly precious — patience. And that patience is rewarded: behind every order stands the work of experienced seamstresses who take quality and individual requirements equally seriously — custom dimensions included. What is created is not a disposable commodity, but a piece of craft that endures. An order at Sato is also a decision in favour of an aesthetic that outlasts trends.

The atelier's range includes bed linen, fitted sheets, duvet covers, decorative and sleeping cushions, curtains and Japanese floor cushions. All bed linen fabrics are woven in Europe and consist exclusively of natural materials. The in-house linen collection, available in a range of colours, is a particular highlight of the range. Fitted sheets and covers are tailored precisely to Sato's own futons and mattresses. Complementing this, Sato offers duvets in various warmth levels and with different filling materials. A special feature of the range is the wide selection of classic Japanese patterns processed in the sewing atelier – from koi fish to cranes to floral motifs, carefully curated.

The choice lies with the customer: fabric, colour, size — everything is decided together before the work begins.
